Sunday, 12 January 2014

it's sunday again.

I thought it would be miserable and awful, but turned out I've survived the slightly hellish first five days of school after Christmas break. And I think that's awesome. Many people could just float through those days effortlessly and act normal, just be normal. But I couldn't--even thinking about it made me want to cry. School is always me being unable to connect with my classmates and drowning in a pool of anxiety. Getting through the week took me a lot of effort and self-kicking, but at least I did it, and sometimes we forget to celebrate these small achievements. Therefore I congratulate myself. And you too, if you're a pretty snowflake like me! (Naww I'm sure everyone here is nice and rad ass so all of u congratz)

On Friday I got a disney princess towel for the school christmas swap and I legit cried about it because it's my first christmassy gift I've ever gotten and I got a fucking towel with Ariel and the gang's face printed on it. I don't know whether to laugh or cry about this.

On the same day I hung out with my bestest friend at her place. We had caramel tea and talk about stuffs, just like ye olde days. I showed her pictures from my phone and we fangirled on Benedict Cumberbatch and made fun of my towel. I'm dying to spoil some series 3 to her, which is weird because she, out of all people, hasn't seen the third series. She's literally the Sherlock to my John, slightly antisocial, fluffy hair, and she thinks differently than other people, often not caring what they think. While I'm the one who tells her off and blog about things. Did someone say cosplay????

It's been 2 months since I've last seen her--not really a long time, but seemed like it. These days only Sherlock episodes, blogging, and her existence could make me excited about life and if that doesn't describe my life, I don't know what will.

On another note, I went through my gran's friend ancient trunk and found this beautiful vintage dress! It felt like unearthing a treasure. My good ol gran told me I could keep it. This basically screams first outfit post!

The shoes are from Bata (hello if any of u fellow Indonesians are reading this post), the bracelets were my mother's, and my mother bought me the tights, but pretty sure you could buy them anywhere.

I'm still figuring out the occasions to wear these tho, they are too pretty and I don't really like people pointing out the fact that I am wearing a dress. Or rather pointing the fact that I dress more like a girl, whatever that means. Dresses are not something people wear everyday. oH GOD WHY DOES THIS SOUNDS SO NEGATIVE ALL OF THE SUDDEN I'M REALLY SORRY I SHOULDN'T MAKE YALL FEEL BAD TOO OR SOMETHING UGH

Also, I changed my blog title and everything! I don't really like my old title, and the header and background's getting old. Awkward by Nature was something I came out randomly and thought it would be temporary. I've always liked the name Pandora, a lot of characters from my forever cliffhanger fictions are named after it. Though my life, blog, or the characters has nothing to do with the legend of Pandora's box, yet. Pandora means all-gifted or all-giving.

this post motivational-ish thingy

Last episode of Sherlock tonight--which I would watch tomorrow. I hope I would survive this. I better write a note, just in case.

life's kinda good part 2

(See part 1 here)

I'm kinda lazy to write the whole story here so I'll just put the pictures and short sentences. Lots of stUFF is happening rn and I may or may not write them here and ok I admit I haven't wrote like ~real~ things I don't even write my journal this week because when I get home I'm always pooped.

/rant end/

Oh and in Bandung we also went to other places such as:

*drumrolls* Museum of the Asian African Conference, as you see on the pic above.

It was held in 1955, ten years after Indonesia had the declaration of independence. There were 29 countries in this meeting. The point is to oppose the colonialism among the countries of Asia and Africa and to promote world peace, I think? These countries also had chosen not to take sides in the Cold War.

This conference room literally gave me chills. The moment you step in, there's this oh-shit-something-rlly-great-happened-here. And something great really did happened here.

Soekarno, the guy on the right, was the leader of the conference, he is also the founding father of Indonesia.

So apparently this is where the Bandung Walk happened, where the country representatives.......... well, walk down the street and you can see the photos here, and it's really awesome. Just like the feels in the conference room.

We went to a bakery not far from the museum. I forgot to take a picture, but imagine a really old bakery, not like a cutesy vintage bakery but the dark old factory-like bakery with steel bread rack thingies. It pretty much turned off my appetite but the croquette and raisin breads are the most delicious thing in the world. For once in your life shut up about how you hate raisin and taking it as ~failed chocolate chips~ and eat the damn bread you wouldn't want to eat any other food in your life.

since I can't take a picture of the bakery and the bread is now well digested in my stomach, this picture is the least I could do

And then we went to this amazing bookshop/artshop. It's small and hidden, and when you step in you can smell dust in the air but the stuffs are cuteeeee I want them all in my house

Oh right I also learned knitting! I bought the yarn at the art shop and my mother taught me to do it, like all the crafty stuffs I learned from her.

And I made this mini wallet!

Also bought mini notebook and postcards!!

But these things get boring. Once upon a Friday I wrote this in my journal:

"I know it's been an amazing five days but now we're not doing anything. Only like, chilling in front of the telly watching music videos or Baby TV or God knows what. And when I was waiting angrily for Tumblr to load, that feeling kicks in. I miss the comfort of my books, daily mail, fast loading internet connection, boring food, and Doctor Who. Also: boredom. Not this kind of boredom when you can't find anything to escape it (or maybe there is but you can't do it because it would wake the baby). Good boredom makes you do stuff. Like Phineas and Ferb's kind of boredom.

I think you never appreciate home until you're away from it. And I miss being able to see Benedict Cumberbatch's naked gif or listen to his voice without waiting for 3 hours or idk"

Have some pictures:
random ass pine cones I picked up in the forest

And my cousin's school is really the best school ever with the picturesque view just look at that WOW If I go here I would never pay attention in the class.

The cats are alright. The grey one is Kimmy (but we nicknamed her Kimi no Koto Ga Suki Dakara after the AKB48 song haha idk) and the white one is Katy. Look at her eeeeyes!!!

forgot to add it above: it's a house beside the bookshop. CUTEEEE

Baby cousin :333333
Then I got home. AND THESE WERE WAITING IN MY ROOM

IM REALLY HAPPY GOSH IT'S GOOD TO BE HOME

Bye guyz have a nice summer and remember to explore stuffs and do great things kay

lovelovelove,
-D-

idk I was just imitating Taylor's way to end her blog post stuff

life's kinda good part 1: scenerygasm and history crash course

soooo at least I achieved something in my ~summer break~ like you know going outside, instead of reblogging yet another Hogwarts scenerygasm post on my dashboard, or pretending to understand a sentence on the hard ass book I'm reading.

I went to Bandung, which is 2 hours drive from where I live.

so i'm taking pictures of highway views what the fuck am i doing with my life oh anyway ignore the dates on my camera I set the wrong date and i'm sorry this picture is stuck in the past for now
we stayed at my cousin's house for a night. She's starting 7th grade next week yet she's still annoying as ever. she and my 10 year old sister were partner in crime, creatures of chaos. they were conspiring against me the whole time.

My sister, my annoying orange cousin, and the tidy posh neighborhood.
the next day we went hiking and well......... i guess i thought the hiking wasn't really hiking and i didn't brought hiking shoes and flashlight so i went hiking wearing crocs. and that's the story of how i got a sore feet.

WHY IS THERE SO MANY TREES I CANT BELIEVE IT I MEAN LOOK AT THIS IT'S REALLY AMAZING OH MY GOD MY LUNGS ARE SO FULL OF FRESH AIR I CANT BREATHE WOW

gateway to the japanese cave

oh how i long for the sunlight

where people stock foods

air duct

mini sewer thingy?

There are 2 caves: from the Japanese colonial era and Dutch colonial era. Let Gramma tell you a story, kids. So Indonesia was colonialized by Netherlands and Japan for 300-ish years and 4-ish years, respectively. Dark times, it was, while slavery, racism, classism, and stuffs were still legal and they forced us to build this cave using only crowbar. I mean wow can you even build things with that???

The first two photos were the Japanese cave, you can see the walls were rough because it took only 3 years to build them while the Dutch cave took 18 years.

/history lecture end/ /pls don't close the tab/

This place is really rad. They got everything; air duct, mini sewer thingy (idk what it's called) and I bet it makes a great hidey-holes. I didn't see any ghosts, which is kinda disappointing.

looking fabulously tired

there's always time for ramen noodles
I guess I'll have to break my trip into 2 parts, unless you guys would get bored and stuffs. See you <3
